Speaker A:We pay our respects to the elders.
Speaker C:Past, present and emerging of the Turbul and Jagera people.
Speaker A:We acknowledge that their sovereignty over this.
Speaker D:Land was never ceded and we stand.
Speaker C:In solidarity with them.
Speaker E:You're listening to transm on 4zzz, amplifying the trans and gender non conforming voices.
Speaker A:Of Brisbane and beyond. Hello, hello, you're listening to Transmission on 4ZZZ. It's Transmission we're all about amplifying the voices of the trans community here in Meangin and beyond. And today we've got a special episode where we'll be broadcasting alongside the one and only Bill from Workers Power.
Speaker F:Hi. I got in nice and early for everyone and yeah, but yeah, and we've also got some of the Workers Power crew that are out there at the rally. So yes, we've got the team out there to take listeners to the heart of the protest. It's great for those that can't access things like this so that they can feel like they're a part of it.
Speaker A:And in case you're wondering what the heck is the protest, there's a protest today at Peter Dutton's office to defend trans rights. You can head to Mac's Corner, which is and Strathpine, which is Peter Dutton's electorate. So if you want to get down there and oppose Dutton and the LNP's hateful divisive policies, head on down. It's Max Corner, 472 Gympie Road, Strathpine. Some of the 4Z crew are there. The Transmission crew and Workers Power crew will be crossing live through speeches. And what's the scene, what's the go, what's, what's happening on the ground. So yeah, stay tuned for Trans Power. How many genders are there?
Speaker F:I don't know. I just got here.
Speaker A:My name is ez. I use he, him pronouns.
Speaker F:I'm Bill, I use he, him pronouns.
Speaker A:Damn. We're locking it down today. That's the vibe here with my accomplice and comrade Bill.
Speaker F:Well, thank you, comrade. Yeah, yeah. So over the next few months it's going to be sketchy. That's okay. Yeah, it's going to be sketchy times in activism. Now's the time to get out there and get your boots on the ground and start having conversations with your co workers, with your friends, with your lovers, with your family, everyone, you know, like I don't know where it came from but you know, it's more from the my generation and the Generation previous where, oh, you don't talk religion and politics at the dinner table or you don't talk politics. I think that is absolutely rubbish.
Speaker A:Rubbish.
Speaker F:The dinner table is probably the best place to be talking about politics because you're there with people you trust and love.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker F:And you can give them your opinions and, and, and better even yet, you can give them the facts.
Speaker A:Yeah, absolutely. You can tell them to tune in to 4 triple Z while they have their dinner.
Speaker F:Yeah, yeah, yeah. And you're gonna hear it all, you know, because we've got a tumultuous time. That's a better word than sketchy, isn't it?
Speaker A:Yeah, yeah, tumultuous.
Speaker F:We really do. We've got a couple of tumultuous months coming up and, yeah, who knows what the future will hold for us.
Speaker A:Yeah. And it's important that if you support trans rights and support trans people in your community or family or friends or maybe you yourself identify as transgender diverse. Look after yourself. You know, rest is also a form of resistance, you know, taking care of yourself so you can get out there and stand with or for your rights. Big fan of our allies here at 4 Triple Z and other cisgendered or straight folk that want to stand next to us and, and make sure that we have our. Deserve, you know, to live with dignity and health care and, you know, look forward to a long, happy life. That's all we could ever dream for. So, yeah, we're very, very grateful. Thank you so much for this, Bill.
Speaker F:Oh, no, no. It's not just myself and our show, but it's the whole station. Hasn't it been really good since this? You know, these Queensland L and P grubs have sprouted their heads up. The whole station has been behind the community. Have you felt the same way?
Speaker A:I felt the energy shifting not long after New Year's Eve, really, things started to really shift and really amp up politically. And I felt tension, but then I felt everyone galvanised and everyone coming together and working together and. And being like, all right, that's it. It's action mode. What are we going to do? What are we going to.
Speaker F:Comrades have rallied. You know, it's really good, you know, the powers that be in four Triple Z towers of power.
Speaker A:Yeah.
Speaker F:If you could say it that way, because it's.
Speaker E:It's not.
Speaker F:It doesn't feel like that at all here at 4 triple Z, you know, so it's really, really good to have the support of everyone in support of workers.
Speaker A:That's it.
Speaker F:These trans kids, they're workers and they need your support. Just one quick thing. You know that famous. It's dating back to World War II and it was done by someone from the Jewish community and it goes through a whole heap of things. First they came for. And then I didn't say anything because I wasn't part of their community. And. And then goes through a whole series and then.
Speaker A:Yep.
Speaker F:Well, I've been working on being concise in, in English and, and, and my messaging and I did it on social media but I thought this quite apt to me bring it up now. And, and that is first they came for the trans people and we said, no, you won't.
Speaker G:When trans lives are under attack, what do we do?
Speaker B:Stand up.
Speaker F:That's the end of the poem in my concern. Yeah, like we're going to stand up.
Speaker A:And if you give them an inch, they'll take a mile.
Speaker F:That's right.
Speaker A:I'll keep coming for you. And I've said this before on Aaron Transmission, if you're part of the LGBTQIA community and you don't stand, maybe you don't identify with the letter T. The trans people in the community don't think that you as an L or a G or a B are safe. They come for all of us. And it usually starts with trans kids. You can see that happening today, which is why there's a protest at Peter Dutton's office starting in probably about three minutes. And stay tuned as we gear up for live coverage of the protest this morning. Amplifying the voices of the trans and gender non conforming community of Meanjin, Brisbane and beyond. Transmission on 4ZZZ brings you the latest in trans community news, music and events. Every Tuesday from 9am till 10am Join our team of hosts for an hour of celebrating the unique perspectives of the trans community. Transmission. Tuesday mornings from 9am till 10am you.
Speaker D:Are listening to Transmission on 4zzz coming to you live from Mac's Corner at Strathpine where we have joined a SNAP gathering to protest Peter Dutton and the recent terrible decisions made on behalf of trans youth without the consent of trans youth or their parents or trans people. I'm Liz Witt. I'm joined by I'm Bet pronouns she, they and I'm.
Speaker C:Brody Pronouns they, them.
Speaker D:That's right. And I am of the they them squad. So There are about 40 an underfunded primary school classroom size amount of people here gathered at Mac's Corner this, this fine morning. It's not too hot. We are finally doing a protest in the shade of a Pine tree rather than the blistering heat of a car park, which is beautiful. There are a lot of flags around, there are a lot of signs, some clever, some just straight to the point. And there's a bit of chalk graffiti going on, isn't there, Brody?
Speaker C:Yes, there is.
Speaker A:There's some fun looking chalk graffiti on the footpath. I'm all for this.
Speaker D:And it looks like the speeches are going to kick off soon, but not just yet.
Speaker C:We've got some sharp dressed trans people.
Speaker D:Here today, as they often are.
Speaker C:It is a serve and some familiar faces. I can see folks from Open Doors, I can see Jade Whitlow from the Greens.
Speaker D:There's certainly some presence from Gaysgate Brisbane as well.
Speaker A:There's a few parents here at their first ever rally supporting their children and.
Speaker D:Becoming angry about it, which is really special. It's great to see the support, it's great to see people showing up. And while we find out when these speeches are going to kick off, let's jump to the next track.
Speaker B:Open Doors Youth Service is Queensland's leading lgbtqiap sister girl and brother boy youth organisation and we aim to create a safe and inclusive environment. We have drop in spaces in the valley for all queer and gender diverse young people aged 12 to 24. It happens every second and fourth Monday of the month from 12 to 2pm so come along and join us for a free barbecue, lunch, games, chill spaces, showers as well as a community closet. At Open Doors, our motto is Pride for life. We look forward to seeing you there. For ZZZ cares about our communities.
Speaker D:Hello, hello, hello. We are here from the rally at Strathpine. We are about to hear some of the speeches.
Speaker H:Reversible and life saving medical care. Last year I lost a friend to suicide. She took her own life because she feared losing access to her medication. And you know how people responded? They said it was good that she was dead. They misgendered her and she had been dead for less than two days. This has never been about protecting children. It's about ensuring there is no place in society for trans people like us. And I say if they won't make space, we will carve it out ourselves. When it comes to my health care, it's my body, my choice. When it comes to trans healthcare, it's our body, our choice. And when it comes to the lnp, it's their oppression and our resistance. We belong here. We are proud and we will not be erased. Peter Dutton becoming Prime Minister is a terrifying possibility. But he can't be Prime Minister if he doesn't win his seat. Dickson is the most marginal seat in Queensland and there are candidates working tirelessly to unseat him. Vinnie the Greensk, who will be speaking in just a bit, has been working incredibly hard. I've also been volunteering on Ailey France's campaign almost daily. And I encourage everyone here to get involved with these campaigns because we have to mobilise, we have to organise and we have to get rid of Dutton. That has to be our top priority at the moment. Ellie Smith, the independent candidate in this race, is refusing to direct preferences. By doing so, she sends a message that she doesn't care about the rights we risk to lose. She must urge her supporters to put Peter Dutton last. I want to close with some lyrics from a song by David Rovicks as a message for Dutton and can maintain your innocence. You can say that you are many as you represent the few, but there will always be resistance. The next battle will always be near. As long as you have everything. There will be those who have nothing to fear. And little by little, or maybe all at once, you will lose because your future. Sorry, our future is not yours to choose.
Speaker D:The next speaker is coming up. We have Green's candidate.
Speaker C:Hey, everyone. So my name is Vinny, but I'd firstly like to acknowledge the Yuggera and Turrbal people as the traditional owners of these stolen unceded lands and pay my respect, elders past and present. This always was and always will be first nations land. So my name is Vinnie Batten and I'm running for a second time as the Greens candidate for Dickson, taking on Peter Dutton this federal election.
Speaker E:Thank you.
Speaker C:Thank you to Zaria and protect Trans Kids Queensland for galvanising the community to be here today. It's awful that we even need to be here protesting for basic human rights in Queensland right now, but we do. We have to show up and let the LNP state government and Peter Dutton, the leader of the LNP federally that we will not stand for them importing Trump's hateful playbook into Australia. LNP's Tim Nicholls ban for gender affirming healthcare for trans youth under 18 years old is appalling. 491 teens who have been on the waiting list for years have now had that future snatched away from them at a moment's notice. An independent evaluation has found that there are or were already appropriate safeguards in place. This is essential treatment for people born intersex and for young people experiencing gender dysphoria. Hormone therapy and puberty blockers save lives. Queensland LNP's decision is at odds with expert consensus around the world and health services in every other state and territory. Health care for trans people is essential and must be defended. This affects all of us. Governments cannot be allowed to just ban vital evidence based healthcare purely on the basis of their political beliefs. When I attended the transjustice rally recently in the City, I heard firsthand the stories of so many trans people and their families about how banning this healthcare is dangerous. But I knew that already from trans friends in my life that told me. And watching the attacks on trans people in the US and the UK and how that's unfolded, and honestly just hoping that Australia wouldn't follow suit. Yet under the LNP they have, and honestly, we have so many serious issues we should be here spending our time talking about. We're in a climate crisis, we're in a cost of living crisis, we're in a housing crisis. And instead of doing anything about these issues, Peter Dutton's LNP is spending their time targeting trans people and trans kids. It's revolting and it doesn't stop there. He's targeting first nations people, people of colour, disabled people, migrants, refugees, you name it. He's stoking up hate and importing Trump like policy purely to stir up division in our community and bring in culture wars with manufactured outrage. Instead of addressing these real issues the community are crying out for our governments to address. And this is by design. They drive the agenda to get us talking about anything other than these issues the community are wanting us to focus on. And every single time we find that oppressed groups are thrown under the bus for their political attacks, Dutton and the LNP purely want the community to feel hopeless. The whole system is designed to silence your rage and your drive for change. And our major parties are either leading the charge for hate or in the case of Labour, largely staying silent out of fear and letting it happen. But it doesn't have to be this way. We can fight back as a community. Things like being here today, finding ways to support each other, speaking to everyone you know, supporting organisations like the Trans Justice Project and building networks for support. This is absolutely critical. And while community keeps fighting on every level, there's also a job to do in Parliament, in a federal and a state level. Which is why, as the Greens candidate for Dickson, I see it as my responsibility to speak publicly, denouncing this hateful ban against life saving healthcare in Queensland, and denouncing the hateful rhetoric and harmful proposals that Peter Dutton and the lnp, aided by their billionaire mates, are trying to Jam down our throats. All politicians need to step up to the plate and speak publicly to their colleagues in the chamber in all their backroom conversations and tell Peter Dutton and the LNP at all levels that Australia is not going to stand for Trump's culture wars. And I am really proud to be part of the Queensland Greens, where on the state and federal level, all of our MPs are actively involved in this conversation, driving for real change. Our state mp, Michael Berkman. That's not him. Michael doesn't rev like that. Michael Berkman sponsored the bill that brought in the legal power for all people in Queensland to change the gender marker on their identification and has fought this hateful ban in the Chamber as hard as he can. You'll be able to see the work of all of our federal MPs publicly supporting all of these fights as well. So please check them out. We need more Greens in our Parliament because we need more voices in those rooms who will speak up and hammer this issue home that are not afraid to talk about it. We know that this federal election we are heading towards a minority government, which is our best chance to make real systemic change. Right now, our focus of all the campaigns in Dickson should be to stop Dutton and the lnp. And we need and through that also sending a strong message to Labour that we need to take action. We're urging you to get behind all of the campaigns here in Dickson, but very much urging you to vote 1 Greens in the House and the Senate at the federal level. And I do want to go off the script here and echo what Zaria said, which is that the Independent candidate, Ellie Smith does need to make a statement that if we're thinking about focusing on keeping Dutton out on this electorate, being clear and transparent about Ellie Smith's preferences and where she wants people to support candidates on a how to vote card is critical in our united fight to keep Peter Dutton out. So we need to push for that as well. So I just want to wrap up by thanking everyone for showing up on a Tuesday morning and actually supporting this important cause. You know, we're seeing, we're having visibility in the community, people are driving past. People know that there is anger in the community and the desire to mobilise to fight this. So thank you all for being here. Just want to summarise what I've said by we have to not allow Trump's culture wars to be important to this country. Peter Dutton and the LNP have chosen this as their campaign strategy and we need to make sure it blows up in their face. Because we cannot put real people's lives and evidence based healthcare as a secondary to real people's experiences and their right to live a dignified life. Thank you very much.
Speaker E:G'day everyone. My name's Jody, I'm with the Transjustice Project and I'll also start by acknowledging that we're meeting on the stolen land of the Yuggera and Turrbal people and pay my respects to their elders, past and present. This always was and always will be aboriginal land. I have a message for Peter Dutton and I wonder if you'd like to help me share it. Hands off trans kids.
Speaker C:Hands off trans kids.
Speaker E:Hands off trans kids.
Speaker A:Hands off trans kids.
Speaker E:Hands off trans kids. Queensland's LNP government and their Health Minister Tim Nicholls has cruelly banned gender affirming care for children in Queensland. This is a transparently politically motivated attack on trans kids that has nothing to do with safety or evidence. It is discrimination, plain and simple. Gender affirming care is life changing and often life saving health care for trans kids. And we all know that all kids deserve to grow up healthy, happy and with the freedom to be themselves.
Speaker F:Woo.
Speaker E:Lets be very clear, if we let this ban stand in Queensland, it will be a clear sign to Dutton and his LNP to take it national. We need to fight this tooth and nail and relentlessly demand that all of our politicians protect our trans community and especially trans kids. We must be demanding relentlessly of our politicians that they stand up for anti discrimination laws for trans people, including in religious settings, which very unfortunately our Prime Minister walked away from this year because he could not strike a deal with Dutton. We must demand that all of our politicians stand up for trans healthcare by making sure that it is affordable and accessible for everyone who needs it, including trans young people. And we must demand that our politicians invest in trans lives by putting money behind the things that disproportionately affect trans people, things like homelessness, unemployment and poverty to make a real tangible difference in trans people's lives. We have a very important job here today and that is to send a strong message, an unignorable message to Peter Dutton and any other politician who wants to follow after him, that the trans community will fight back. We know that we must protect trans kids and we have a clear message for Dutton and his lnp. Hands off trans kids.
Speaker A:Hands off trans kids.
Speaker E:I will look forward to fighting with all of you and I will be so proud to do so ahead of this federal election to keep politicians away from the destructive, harmful and often Tragic kinds of culture wars and anti trans policies that the Queensland LNP government and Dutton and his LNP mates are indulging in. I'm so glad that all of you have come out here today and I'm so looking forward to fighting with you in the weeks ahead of this federal election. Thanks, bait.
Speaker G:Hey, y'all. Before I start speaking, I'd like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land that we're standing on today who lived here for tens of thousands of years and were thriving before our government came and committed genocide. And our fights are so intrinsically linked. It's the same fight. So I want to stress that solidarity with Aboriginal sovereignty movements and the fight for Aboriginal rights and Torres Strait Islander rights in this country is so important. Hi, I'm Piper. I'm from a little group called McAnjan People's Pride. Thanks. Yeah, good work, everyone getting out here. If you live locally. Fuck yeah. But it was like an hour or something drive, so. Yeah, so we've got. We've got a little problem. One of our problems is this guy, Peter Dutton. Bit of a dickhead. Another one is Tim Nichols mp, our current state health minister, who decided to take medical decision making out of the hands of doctors, professionals and. And national standards and take it into his own hands and the hands of bigots across the country and say, sorry, kids, you can't access your gender affirming care anymore. Shame. And want to be really clear here that this ban that we have been fighting against, it's not some safeguarding of children, it's not giving the parents back their rights. The kids who are getting gender affirming care, they have the support of their parents, their parents are fighting for them. You can't get gender affirming treatment as a minor without the support of your parents and the support of a doctor and a pretty rigorous process with the psychologist. So really, Tim Nicholls, the Health Minister, is taking away the rights of parents to give the best health care possible to their children. And that's just atrocious. Talk about the right to freedom. Right. Freedom to exist. Except when the government decides that you're a minority, they want to persecute, apparently. And so we've seen. It's been a couple months since the LNP were elected here in Queensland, and we've seen that right off the bat they've decided it's time to go after transgender people. And we're not having that. We have fought this from day one and we are continuing to fight. And the reason we're here today is because we Know that in this year's federal election, if that man and his party get into power, they plan to do the exact same thing. Okay, well, it was just a little car crash.
Speaker D:So we are having a brief interruption of the speeches as there's been a praying at the intersection that is adjacent to Peter Duffman's office. I would like to just affirm on behalf of the trans community that we did not have anything to do with this. And we're going to carry on with the speeches in just a minute.
Speaker A:Thank you, Liz, for catching us up on what's going on in the protest down at Peter Dutton's office this morning. You're listening to 4zzz on it's 10:20am A special trans Power Combined Workers Power and Transmission Paradigm Shifts podcast is available online and via your favourite podcasting app. Challenging the assumptions of our current society to investigate alternative ways of living for a world based on justice, solidarity and sustainability. Tune in to the Paradigm Shift podcast. Just search the Paradigm Shift for Triple.
Speaker D:Z. Hello, hello, hello, this. This is Liz Wick coming to you from Mac's Corner at Strathpine, where there is a protest happening to support trans youth. Now, there has been a slight hiccup with a fender bender happening at the intersection, but I can say that it is really heartening to see that community members jumped straight up to run over and assist. And we look after each other. And that's what matters the most in these moments, is that it's peer to peer and that we are looking at each other from human to human. And being at this rally here today has been a really nice example of that. Seeing how many people are going to hike all the way out to Strathpine on a Tuesday morning to support trans youth. So the speakers have just thrown it open to anybody who wants to come up and say their piece on trans youth. So we're going to tune back into that.
Speaker I:It's extremely dire. I can't really stress how bad it is. Now, my warning to the state before the state election was that we faced the risk of a dictatorship in the form of the LNP taking an absolute majority. And that's exactly what they did. And what do we see? We see them able to pass laws without even talking about them. What we face in the Federal Parliament come the election in May will be very similar. Right now, the Coalition and their Conservative mates hold the balance of power in the upper house. Without our help, without the Greens there fighting for us, the Coalition and their other Conservative mates will roll the Labour Party. Even the Labour Party People do support trans rights and that's not all of them by any stretch. We need to keep more greens in the upper house so that we can control the upper house and block the kind of shit that we're seeing in Queensland right now with this completely undiscussed, unargued legislation being passed. So please, I implore you, get out and support your local Greens candidate. Letterbox for them. You don't have to go and talk to people if it's not something that you feel comfortable doing. Letterboxing is very easy and it's extremely effective in getting the message out. The Greens don't take corporate donations, so we don't have the hundreds of millions of dollars that the LNP and Labour have to play with. But what we have is people power, provided those people turn up. I'm begging you, if you care about the future of trans people in Australia, turn up, come out and door knock if you can, letterbox if you're able, or just amplify the green social media messaging through your own social media networks. We need to get the message out. We need to re elect Senator Larissa Waters and we need to elect another local MP so that we can hold, if possible, the balance of power in a lower house that is a minority government. Not everyone really understands all of the details of our political system. You don't need to. All you need to do is get out and support your Greens candidate, please. Thank you.
Speaker H:Yeah, I do think it's really important to get involved with campaigns. I do know that the Labour branches in this area vary so supportive of transrite and there's a lot of the branches out today supporting us here. So there are definitely people in Labour, but Labour does need to take a stronger stand as well. Fuck Dutton. Peter Dutton is someone. He is going to attack the rights of trans people, of immigrants, of first nations people. He is going to attack the rights of disabled people. He is going to attack Medicare, he is going to attack the health care system. He is going to attack the rights at work. And these are rights that the trans community has always stood up and stood alongside people with. So we are going to continue to stand with those communities as Peter Dutton tries to take rights away from them.
Speaker B:Okay. Hi, I'm Bray. He they. I was 14 when I came out as at least somewhere in the genderqueer spectrum. At that point I didn't feel that I could go on hormones or whatever because at this point I now know that I am some form of trans, but that the imagine, I can't even imagine Being in that situation. Oh, cool. And you are 14 years old and you are having such bad time with the body that you are in and you cannot get their health care to be able to start your transition, even though it is such a long wait list. I'm on it now in the adult for the adult system and I've been on it for a while now. It's just. It does infuriate me what has happened in the last few weeks for trans healthcare for young kids. And if Dutton does get elected, it will be abysmal what will happen for us. And it terrifies me, honestly, that it could happen at all, that trans healthcare could be banned altogether. I just absolutely hate it. And so if you can always go out, sign your petitions and go to protests always for the transgender youth and the transgender individuals around you. Yeah.
Speaker E:Thank you.
Speaker J:Hello, my name is Isa. I am a non binary local in the Moreton Bay area and I'm here to talk about Trent, trans rights and trans emancipation. So today we are all here, as we all know, because we don't like that guy over there. I certainly don't like him. Fuck that guy. And we're all here to stand in solidarity with trans people. And we're also here to stand in solidarity of all other peoples marginalised by the lnp. During the state election, we saw the marginalisation of women, marginalisation against first nations people. And I find that absolutely disgusting. We should not stand for that. And we shouldn't stand for that anywhere, any day, anywhere. So we are all here to stand in solidarity against Peter Dutton and against the Liberals. We need to get active and we need to get engaged. We need to engage in grassroots campaigning against these reactionary conservatives who want to take away our rights. We are the hope. We are the movement. We can fight for liberation and trans liberation is for all of us. You cannot be the rights of all humans without being for the rights of trans people. Thank you.
Speaker C:Peter Sterling, the only man.
Speaker E:In the world who's given birth to a child.
Speaker A:Someone might say you're a bit of a queer. And they'd be Brian.
Speaker C:Hello to Transpower.
Speaker B:We're here at Strathpine outside Peter Dutton's office.
Speaker C:Yes, Protect Trans Kids protest is wrapping up right now. They just took a big group photo. It's been a powerful showing of solidarity with trans people and fighting against the Liberal Party's attacks on trans rights and trans kids rights to access life saving health care. All in. In the pursuit of just getting more votes and stirring up division and distraction from what they don't want you to be looking at. Yeah, so it was a. It was a good protest.
Speaker B:Really good turnout considering it's Strathpine on a Tuesday morning. Just really shows just how passionate the community is about this issue.
Speaker C:Yeah, we got like 50 to 100 people. I'm not really good at estimating numbers. It's definitely at least 50 people. I'm pretty sure there are about 40 people who said they were going to.
Speaker I:Come on Facebook and say a few.
Speaker B:More cave than that. Yeah, looks like, like, like, yeah, bigger turnout than expected. 100% and yeah, pretty good one. Yeah. So we've had some very loud chanting here today and some really powerful speeches from a number of speakers. And, and in the crowd there's a total mixture of age range. We've got some, some young kids and we've, we've even got some, some older people here too. We've got kids and we've got parents, Lots of parents here to support their kids.
Speaker C:Older trans people who want to support their community.
Speaker D:Just to bust in there. It was really interesting to see how many people were like giving us a thumbs up, giving us a little wave, giving us like a Hong Kong. There was also a couple of dudes in a truck who yelled a slur at everyone. So, like, we still got a lot of fighting left to do.
Speaker B:That's true. But if you weigh up those guys versus the many people sticking thumbs up out of the car and cheering for us, it really shows that a lot of the community is on board with us.
Speaker D:Hell yeah. Hell yeah. Workers Power. Do you want to just give us a cheeky sign off?
Speaker B:Yeah. All right, we'll see you next Tuesday.
Speaker A:Thank you so much, guys. You're amazing. You're listening to Work Is Power combined with Transmission. This morning on four Triple Z. My name is ez. I use he, him, pronouns. And we were giving you some live coverage of the protest down at Mac's Corner, which is Peter Dutton's office in Strathpine. So we've just been talking about trans rights, what's going on, and the political climate. Want to give a special shout out to all the four Triple Z crew who are down there on the site today broadcasting those speeches. And thank you to four Triple Z for always amplifying the voices of the community and particularly our trans community. Very, very grateful to you. And a special thanks to Bill as well from Workers Power and the Workers Power crew for donating an extra hour of their time this morning. Look after yourselves out there. Trans listener rest is resistance. Self care is important. And the greatest thing that you can do as a trans person in this current political climate. Using our lives and our rights to healthcare as a political football to distract you from much larger and much more real and scary problems. Make sure you rest. Take care of yourself. Trans joy is resistance. Trans joy is victory. And we take those moments and every day where we can and how we can. If you have a moment to laugh and seek joy and love with people around you, then you are winning, my friend. You are winning indeed. So, yeah, thank you so much. Love you all. And yeah, stay hydrated. Thank you so much for listening to Transmission. See you next Tuesday, 9 to 10aM on 4 triple Z.
