Better Books with Bette

Ez (he/him) is joined by Bette Benjamin (she/they) a local trans support worker, and novelist discussing her experience with the book Trans Kids by Tey Meadow - which is a trenchant ethnographic and interview-based study of the first generation of families affirming and facilitating gender nonconformity in children. Bette shares her thoughts on Meadow's research as well as sharing personal stories, ancedotes, and quotes from the book.

This week Ez is joined by Cass (she/her), Kat (she/her), and Logan (he/him) from Shelf Lovers which is a small independent bookshop in Wooloowin specialising in LGBTQIA+ and romance books, as well as literary-themed gifts. Established by a family of book lovers, offering a welcoming space for all, with lots of pride and no prejudice! Sev's in studio today with Count Jayne, formally King Jayne of Lochac - of the SCA, The Society of Creative Anachronism - the first openly trans crown holder of Lochac and an inspirational leader for a whole community of historical reenactment enthusiasts.
